MEDIUM RIGID TRUCKS

Must have held a class C for at least one year.

You may drive a motor vehicle authorised to be driven by a licence of a preceding class.

A motor vehicle (other than a special purpose vehicle) with 2 axles and a GVM greater than 8 tonne.

A motor vehicle included above towing a single trailer (other than a semi-trailer) with a GVM not greater than 9 tonne, subject to the combination mass limits fixed under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (South Australia).

A special purpose vehicle with 2 axles and a GVM greater than 8 tonne, or 3 or more axles and a GVM not greater than 15 tonne.

HR

HEAVY RIGID TRUCKS

Must have held a class C for at least two years or a class LR or MR for at least one year.

You may drive a motor vehicle authorised to be driven by a licence of a preceding class.

A motor vehicle (other than an articulated motor vehicle or a special purpose vehicle) with three or more axles and a GVM greater than 8 tonne.

A motor vehicle included above towing a single trailer (other than a semi-trailer) with a GVM not greater than 9 tonne, subject to the combination mass limits fixed under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (South Australia).

An articulated bus with three or more axles and a GVM greater than 8 tonne.

A special purpose vehicle with three or more axles and a GVM greater than 15 tonne.

HC

HEAVY COMBINATION TRUCKS

Must have held a class MR or HR for at least one year.

You may drive a motor vehicle authorised to be driven by a licence of a preceding class.

A prime mover to which is attached a single semi-trailer (whether or not any unladen converter dolly or low loader dolly is also attached).

A rigid motor vehicle to which is attached a single trailer with a GVM greater than 9 tonne (whether or not any unladen converter dolly or low loader dolly is also attached).

OUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1)     Appointment times must be adhered to. Please make sure you arrive at least 10 minutes before your appointment time. Failure to attend or late attendance may mean loss of fees paid or you will be charged for that time.

2)     Cancellations must be made at least three days in advance, (unless its an emergency). Cancellation fee will apply.

3)     You must produce your current SA Drivers license. (Remember, no license means no training or test). Cancellation fees will apply.

4)     If you are required to wear Optical Prescription glasses while driving, please make sure you have them with you.

5)     Please ensure that appropriate footwear is worn on the day, eg; closed in shoes, (No thongs, slip ons, bare feet or high heels)

6)     You must ensure that you Blood Alcohol Level (BAC) is 0.00g% while driving a Heavy goods Vehicle.

7)     You must make sure that you are not affected by any other drugs, intoxicants or any other substance that may affect your ability to drive a heavy vehicle safely.

8)     You must comply with all instructions given to you by your instructor.

9)     You must drive to the best of your ability in a safe and legal manner, adhere to all road rules that are mandatory under the Road Traffic Act.

10)  Rude manners, abusive language and violence will not be tolerated.

Heavy vehicle safety

1- Safety takes priority over everything else

2- Heavy Vehicles are very heavy

3- Remember, it takes trucks up to four times longer to stop

4- know what to do in an accident

5- Regular maintenance and inspections

6- Learn to read the roads and traffic lights

7- Maintain good records

8- Avoid fatigue

9- Plan for your drive
